For the first time, Stations From
The Air brings together a full-colour collection
of aerial photographs of some of the UK’s
largest railway stations and associated rail
infrastructure. All of the images in the book
have been taken from the library of Webb
Aviation,
which is run by Jonathan CK Webb, the UK’s
leading aerial photographer. With a total of 215
superb aerial images, the book contains pictures
of 158 stations, including 109 mainline stations,
the sites of 24 former stations (either disused
or demolished), 10 Heritage stations, 8 Light
Rail stations and 7 London Underground stations.
There are also images of 34 maintenance depots
and works sites, 6 famous railway bridges and 5
railway museums. As well as the photographs, the
book includes a fascinating history of each
station, along with facts and figures, including
passenger numbers over a 5 year period, UK
ranking by passengers numbers, dates opened and
the total number of current platforms.
